Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi’s owner Javed Afridi on Thursday announced that South African great Hashim Amla will be the team’s batting mentor for PSL 2020.
Afridi said that Amla’s presence in the league would not only add to the Zalmi dugout but would also inspire and craft the skills of emerging players in the squad.
“Hashim Amla is a legendary batsman and a big name; his presence will bring value to our squad,” said Afridi.
Meanwhile, Zalmi head coach Mohammad Akram said that Amla’s inclusion would allow young cricketers to hone their skill for the upcoming league.
“With the presence of Amla, our young cricketers will have a chance to learn a lot,” said Akram.
Amla, who retired from all international cricket earlier last year, represented South Africa in 124 Tests, 181 ODIs and 44 T20 matches.
He had also registered as platinum category player ahead of the PSL players draft but went unpicked in the category.
