Shahid Afridi on Thursday accidentally announced that Shan Masood, and not him, will be the captain of Multan Sultans in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020.
While the other five franchises had their captains sorted out, there was a cloud of mystery around the Sultans skipper, with Afridi and Masood reportedly contending for the gig.
However, Afridi today ended the mystery by publicly acknowledging the Sultans’ decision to appoint Masood as their skipper, a day before the franchise owner Ali Tareen was to make the announcement himself.
As a player and mentor it makes me happy to see Multan Sultans believing in the local talent pool and giving SultansKaKaptaan to Shan Masood. He speaks well and is known for his fitness and discipline. I am wishing him all the best,” Afridi tweeted.
Minutes later, Tareen thanked Afridi for his approval of the Sultans decision but also made it known that the plan was for the franchise to make the announcement tomorrow.
Thank you Lala, but we were going to reveal the captain tomorrow. 😄 https://t.co/QOILGwTwmf
